This was the fun day when I met my coach @jillwright in person.
I resisted hiring a 1 on 1 coach for a long time because I had access to free coaching through my coach friends, was in two group coaching programs and I coach myself daily.
I’m so grateful I made the move last year and hired a coach for 6 months, paying much more than I charge.
There just isn’t anything like having an entire coaching session with the coach fully focused on your needs and then continuing to support you weekly and during the week for months.
In a group program, there were issues I wasn’t comfortable sharing or needed longer than 15 or 20 minutes to work through.
It’s so much easier to be vulnerable 1 on 1, easier to let the emotions come up, to cry or get frustrated and not worry about others on the call.
I learn so much watching group coaching and am in a couple programs because of how effective it is.
But, in order to move past some of the more challenging beliefs and gain momentum working on certain issues week after week, weekly 1 on 1 sessions was the key.
Sometimes it’s exciting during a coaching session, feeling motivated and making progress. Sometimes it’s rough, crying and working through hard things. Sometimes I’m really resisting and fighting the new ways of thinking as she asks me questions to help me see how I’m thinking and what that is creating in my life.
I don’t just offer coaching, I practice what I preach.
I coach myself and I get coached.
After 6 months of weekly coaching, I often heard @jillwright speaking to me in my head catching my thought errors or encouraging me. In between sessions she’d send a challenge or encouragement just when I needed it. It would help me stay focused or create a goal or task that was specific and focused.
